Advanced software and electronics is the ingredient of improving existing solutions and developing new applications. Advanced control algorithms for low emission engines are implemented in software. New and future advanced systems like lane keeping and automatic guided driving heavily depend on advanced electronics.

The scope of new solutions goes beyond the scope of the physical borders of vehicles. Cars will soon start communicating with each other and the roadside infrastructures. Functionality runs partly inside the vehicle and partly in “clouds”, take for example traffic management systems. Using a holistic view, we see that these technologies will enable a huge set of new applications.
